Samia
Shalabi is a jewelry artist. Her unique designs are inspired
by life. Careful thought and conscious placement of color,
and texture are put into every piece she makes.
Her passion
is travel and she has
traveled the globe. The winter of 2006 brought Samia
back to India. There,
she traveled to different regions where she found rare
stone beads and inspiration from the culture, the colors
and of course, the people. In Mysore, she spent 6 weeks
studying and working with a very skilled goldsmith
named Kumar and his apprentice, Rangaswamy. Together,
we created amazing pieces with 22Kt gold and very old sea
glass I found on the shores of
Maine.
These precious pieces are now available along with
Samia’s
beautiful and unique beaded jewelry.
Jewelry is not simply an accessory, it tells a story,
it has a meaning. The story behind her jewelry lies within
the realm of following her dreams. She does what she
loves and hopes others love what she is doing. She asks
you to wear each piece with excitement and joy, knowing
love has gone into every part of making it. Enjoy it,
it is yours to tell stories about and to have forever.
Her pieces are found in boutiques around the Midwest
and Seattle.
Design and a love of the earth have
always been a part of Samia’s life, she spent
her years in college studying geology and how the earth
formed. Now her interest
in design is extended to the human body and mind, she
studies, practices and teaches yoga too.
Karazi is the English translation
of an Arabic word meaning “bead”. The word
Karazi was chosen because of her Arabic roots.
